Over 75 ha of agricultural land affected by recent rainfalls in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/ – There have been affected almost 23 ha of apple orchards and 48 ha of corn fields in village Sturzovca, Glodeni district, but also 3.5 ha of orchards around Edinet city by the rainfalls of recent 02 days.

According to data of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), following the torrential rainfalls registered on 08 – 09 August 2019, there have been harmed several localities in Moldova. Due to the gusts of wind, more trees were brought down in localities of districts Anenii Noi, Cimislia, Straseni and Edinet. In Cimislia city, a broken tree could fall over an electric pole and damage the electrical wires.

According to data recorded by the territorial Commissions for Exceptional Situations (CSE), the rainfalls and strong wind on 08 August threw away 47 slate sheets from the roofs of two houses in village Buzdugeni, but also from the roof of a block – of – flats in Edinet municipality. In village Burlanesti, there wind removed over 500 sheets of slate from the roofs of several grain stores. The commissions for district exceptional situations continue to work in the north of Moldova to estimate the material damage.
