Pensions likely to be indexed twice year

Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/- Pensions could be indexed twice a year on 1 April and 1 October. The project on the matter was approved on 14 August by the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance.

The project was registered as a presidential legislative initiative. Indexing on April 1 will be carried out according to the procedure in force - for all beneficiaries, equivalent to the average of the consumer price index for the last three years. The one from October 1 will include in the first year of implementation - 2020 over 400 thousand pensioners, whose pension does not exceed the subsistence level.

Presidential adviser Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that the draft law will also involve increasing social allowances for people with disabilities.

The members of the Economy Commission said that this is an expected project and has a great social impact.

The project was also presented to the government for examination. Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilița said that the executive will examine the mechanisms that can be applied for this concept and will decide on the possibilities for its support.

The project provisions would be implemented from January 1, 2020.
