Accident in Russia has no influence on radiological level of Moldova, according to authorities

Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/ – The explosion that took place last week in Severodvinsk (Arhanghelsk region) in Russia did not influence the radiological level of Moldova in any way, said director of the National Agency for the Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities (ANRANR), Ion Apostol.

“The accident in Russia has had no impact on the radiological situation in Moldova. It remains in accordance with the accepted norms and does not present any danger to health condition, especially to life of the population”, specified Ion Apostol.

The info has been also confirmed by the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), which indicates Green Code (CV) in the area of ​​air quality, and the level of air pollution is forecast to be low.

The Romanian authorities also indicate that in this sense, it is attested a normal state of affairs. "The level of radiation on the Romanian territory has not increased, following the explosion in Russia", announced general director of Nuclearelectrica, Cosmin Ghita, on Wednesday, 14 August, quoted by Agerpres.

The radiation levels in city Severodvinsk have increased up to 16 times, following the accident that occurred during the test of a nuclear missile engine, according to Russian authorities. The Russian atomic energy agency Rosatom has announced that 05 of its employees died following explosion. Another 03 employees of the agency were injured, including burns, said Rosatom.
