Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/ – The promulgation decree and law establishing that tobacco goods that do not burn are to be subject to similar regulations as cigarettes and it will be published in the Official Journal (MO), on Friday, 16 August.
The document states that all aerosols, tobacco reserves will be subject to the same regulations as traditional cigarettes. Also, on each pack of tobacco products that do not burn, it will be placed the health warning: This tobacco product damages the health and creates dependence. It shall be printed on the largest surfaces of the package or box and shall cover at least 30 per cent of relevant surfaces.
The control of compliance with these provisions will be carried out by the Competition Council (CC), National Agency for Public Healthcare (ANSP) and State Tax Service (SFS).
The marketing of tobacco goods is prohibited in units with a commercial area of less than 20 m2 located at a distance of less than 200 m from educational and medical – sanitary institutions.
The World Health Organisation's (WHO) resolution of 06 October 2018 recognises that "heat – not – burn" tobacco goods are tobacco products that fall within the scope of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, ratified by Parliament of Moldova.
