Deputy mayors to be elected at mayor's proposal

Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/- The district heads will be elected among the councilors, and the deputy mayors will be elected and released from office at the mayor's proposal. A draft that envisages the modification of the Law on local public administration was voted today in final reading.

According to the draft, the deputy mayors will be elected and released from office at the proposal of the mayor, by decision of the council, adopted with the vote of the majority of elected councilors. If the draft decision is excluded from the agenda at two consecutive meetings by the council or does not meet the required number of votes at two consecutive meetings, the mayor will appoint or release from office the deputy mayor by an order.

Also, the legislative amendments also stipulate that position of deputy head can be held by any person, including councilors.

The changes of the legislation were operated during an extraordinary session that will be held between August 12-16.
