Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today convened in a meeting to decide the names of the two judges who will be appointed by the government as members of the Constitutional Court. Liuba Șova and Nicolae Roșca were selected from the four candidates proposed to the Government by the competition commission, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“We started from the idea that we want to bring in new people, people who were no longer in the system. The other two candidates performed well during the interview, but there were people who have worked in the system. And in society there is this expectation, for people who have not been part of the system to arrive in positions. We are trying to restore the credibility of the institutions, especially the credibility of the Constitutional Court, especially after the last decisions”, Prime Minister Maia Sandu said.
The contest for the selection of judges at the Constitutional Court by the Government took place on 8 August. The competition commission was made up of representatives of the executive, as well as representatives of civil society.
