Three border crossing points to be modernized

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/- The Customs Service has started the implementation of the project on rehabilitation and modernization of the crossing points Sculeni-Sculeni, Leușeni-Albița and Giurgiulești-Giurgiulești, which are the most crossed customs posts in the country.
The project will focus on several priority areas, including increase in the number of control lanes, the reconstruction of the access roads linking the customs posts with the national roads, the rehabilitation of the scanning platforms of vehicles, the provision of new and modern control equipment and modernisation of lighting and signalling systems.
Also, several trainings will be organized for front-line customs officials, who will take over best practices regarding the use of new equipment in the process of customs control.
The project is set in the Joint Operational Program Romania - Moldova 2014-2020, funded by the European Union and co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The duration of the project is 36 months, its budget is 5 million euros, of which 3,214 million euros is the grant given to Moldova by the EU, and 1,786 million euros is the contribution of the Chisinau government.
