Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/ – In front of a high school in locality Peresecina, Orhei district, it has been applied a new road marking, on Friday, 16 August– a pedestrian crossing: Brake pad.
According to police, the decision to apply the new marking specifically at that place was determined by the fact that the Chisinau – Balti route, which passes through the locality, is one of the busiest in Moldova and there are frequently recorded road accidents there. Also, the part of the road is wide and more difficult to cross, and the educational institution in locality is right on the edge of the route.
The project is implemented for the first time in Moldova, and the materials required for the marking application were donated by a former road police employee, whose grandchildren attend the high school in this locality.
The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of drivers and warn them that this place is crowded and that there are children around. The colour of the marking is observed from a distance, it is visible at night and the structure is abrasive, alerting the drivers approaching the crossing point of the street.
The National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) took the idea of such a marking from Romania, where its efficiency was demonstrated and it was recorded the reduction of the number of road accidents in the places where it was applied.
