Moldovan foreign minister participates in official opening of Diaspora Days 2019

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/ – The actions initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) following the proposals of Diaspora to make consular services faster and more accessible, as well as the increased promotion of economic diplomacy and attracting foreign investments, including with involvement of Diaspora, have been part of the message transmitted by minister Nicu Popescu at the official opening of the Diaspora Days 2019, on Friday, 16 August, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

Following the proposals from diaspora, Minister Popescu has informed about the actions undertaken by MAEIE, which aims to reduce the waiting period for granting Moldovan documents, in order to improve the quality and accessibility of consular services.

Alongside with President, Igor Dodon, Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, other members of Government, as well as representatives of international institutions, Nicu Popescu has thanked the diaspora Moldovans for their role in promoting a favourable image of Moldova abroad.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy has spoken on the importance of restoring foreign financial assistance, but similarly has drawn attention to importance of developing the national economy in time to reduce the dependence on these external aids.

Nicu Popescu, together with colleagues from MAEIE, has answered the questions of diaspora in a separate working session.

In 2019, the Diaspora Days take place on 15 – 17 August, with a series of activities organised on various topics of interest to Moldovan citizens abroad.
