Office of foreigners' records opened at Chisinau railway station

Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- A new office for registration of foreigners of the Migration and Asylum Department was inaugurated at the railway station in Chisinau. The event took place on 16 August at the arrival of Odessa-Chisinau train.

The services of the new office will be able to benefit the foreign citizens entering and leaving the Republic of Moldova, respectively, with passenger trains passing through the Transnistrian region. Currently, there are two such routes: Odessa - Chisinau and Moscow - Chisinau.

On the first day of operation of the new office, there were 20 foreign nationals from five countries, who arrived in our country from Odessa.

Attending the event, Deputy Premier, Interior Minister Andrei Nastase said that the new office will facilitate the procedure of registration of foreigners, who are thus exempted from the need to go further to the competent authorities to legalize the stay in the Republic of Moldova.

During one year, about 70 thousand foreigners are registered in the similar offices operating on the motorways transiting the Transnistrian region.
