Illegal migration network cleared by SIS

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/- A network for organizing illegal migration has been cleared by the Antiterrorist Center of the Intelligence and Security Service, employees of the General Inspectorate of Border Police and the Main Office of the Prosecutor's Office of Chisinau.
According to SIS data, the group was led by two Moldovans, including a former border guard, and had as "activity object" the recruitment of foreign citizens from areas with high risk of terrorism, their temporary accommodation in Moldova, making available false identity documents and transporting them over the Prut river to the Romanian side. For services, traffickers received from each migrant 2,000 euros, money that was paid on the Romanian territory.
Following some actions carried out by the officers of SIS and border guards, near the border localities Frăsinești, Ungheni distri t, and Costești, Rascani district, the organizers of the network were detained, and several foreigners who were planning to reach the EU. Foreigners were aged between 20 and 35 years and were from Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.
According to SIS, the citizens of Bangladesh had connections with the detained persons in early July, during the joint operation of SIS and PCCOCS, when the criminal activity of a group of foreigners, organizers of illegal migration to the EU countries was documented.
