Stopping, checking vehicles without legal grounds to be prohibited

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/- Stopping and checking vehicles in the absence of legal grounds will be prohibited, and once the vehicles are stopped in traffic, police officers will be required to inform drivers about the name, function and legal basis of the stop and present the service card. An order to this effect was signed on today by Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Năstase.
According to the press service of Interior Ministry, the order is meant to ensure compliance by police employees with rules on stopping vehicles and not admitting abuses in the activity.
Thus, stopping and checking vehicles will be prohibited in the absence of legal grounds. At the same time, when stopping the vehicle, the police officers will be obliged to inform the drivers about the name, function and legal basis of the stop, and will present the service card.
Also, the traffic surveillance units will be located only in visible places, the previous practice of parking in hidden spaces of drivers is forbidden.
