Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ – In 2019, it will be spent an amount of MDL 650 million to repair local and communal roads. The work would begin this week. The info has been presented on Monday, 19 August, by the head of the State Road Administration (ASD), Gheorghe Curmei, after the meeting of the Council of road fund (CFR).

According to Curmei, the money will be allocated to localities according to number of inhabitants. "The approved programme was worth MDL 1 billion 750 million. In the state budget (BS), it was allocated MDL 950 million. So we have a deficit. Out of MDL 950 mln – the amount of MDL 280 mln is for the debts for works executed in 2018. Thus, there remains a tranche of MDL 650 mln available according to the budget law (LB), which has been recalculated in all villages, according to number of inhabitants. With existing sources, there will be rehabilitated as many km of road as possible. If there are contracted other installments during the year, it will be supplemented the works”, said Curmei.

The head of ASD added that the contractors are ready for the start of work, which could be launched this week. “ASD is to inform entrepreneurs about the limits that can be made. If, following the recalculations, the contracted amount is exceeded in some localities, the contractors will be limited to the contracted value, until new tender procedures are carried out,” said Curmei.

Also, it has been allocated over MDL 01 billion for road repairs from the road fund (FR) in 2019. Half of this amount has already been redeemed.

At the beginning of 2019, the officials announced to allocate an amount of MDL 2.7 bln for repair of roads in Moldova this year, including MDL 01 bln from FR and MDL 1.7 bln from BS.
