Slovak partners present water management project in city of central Moldova

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Regional Development Agency (ADR) Senec – Pezinok from Slovakia presented, on Sunday, 18 August, at the Diaspora Day in Straseni, more details about project: The support for the development of wastewater management in the Central Region of Moldova – better wastewater management step by step. This is done by the ADR Centru of Moldova, in partnership with the Slovak Agency and the City Hall of Straseni.

The overall objective of the project is to support the sustainable and equitable socio – economic development of the central region through interventions in the field of water supply and sanitation. The project also provides for ensuring the capacity building of local public authorities and service providers, as well as providing the necessary technical assistance.

"Such activities favour the creation of a communication platform between the actors involved in community development, including in the field of water supply and sanitation. We are here to provide the necessary support and share our experience to create development opportunities and multiply successful practices about this chapter in Moldova", explained project manager, representative of the Senec – Pezinok Regional Development Agency, Eva Balazovicova.

This project is funded by the Official Development Assistance Programme (ODAP) of Slovakia (SlovakAid). The total budget of the project is €221,390, of which €199,251 – grant and €22,139– cofinancing of the Slovak partner. It is allocated 50 per cent of grant value for construction works.

Within this project, there were held two training sessions in the field of water supply and sanitation. Also, in the autumn of 2019, it will be organised a professional study visit in Slovakia for 12 service providers/operators in the field of wastewater management and environmental protection and 13 representatives of local authorities.

With the project completion, in spring of 2020, it will be granted the technical support to 12 municipal enterprises in the region, through endowments worth €1,050 per company. Thus, the construction works of a sewerage network with a length of over 3,200 m have already started in Straseni municipality.

The project implementation period is 01 October 2018 – 31 March 2020.
