At local elections in autumn to be elected 898 mayors, 11,580 councilors in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ – Following the local elections on 20 October, there will be elected 898 mayors and 11,580 local councilors, of which 1,810 district/municipal councilors and 10,472 village and city councilors.
According to the Central Election Commission's (CEC) information and media communication service, the number of councilors is determined according to the number of inhabitants of administrative – territorial unit on 01 January of the year in which there take place the elections. Thus, CEC has established the number of mandates that will be distributed following the results of the general local elections on 20 October 2019.
In Chisinau municipality, the municipal council (CM) will consist out of 51 councilors. Most of village (communal) councils, city councils will be assigned 11 mandates. As many as 27 councilors will be elected in 05 localities of level I – municipalities Orhei, Soroca, Ungheni, Comrat and Cahul.
