Equipment worth MDL 01 mln donated by U.S. Embassy to General prosecutor's office of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ – On Tuesday, 20 August, the U.S. Embassy in Moldova has donated to the General Prosecutor's Office (PG) a set of specialised software programmes for investigations and IT equipment, estimated at around MDL 01 million.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office's (PG) information and media communication service, at the event of handing over the equipment, there were present acting General Prosecutor, Dumitru Robu, and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of USA in Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan.
"The software programmes and donated equipment will greatly increase the investigative and analytical capabilities of Moldovan prosecutors in prevention, detection and instrumentation of resonance cases, such as financial – banking fraud, cyber – attacks, human trafficking, drug trafficking, but also other categories of cross-border crime," said Robu.
At his turn, the U.S. ambassador has reiterated the commitment of U.S. Government to support continuously the efforts of Moldova to combat organised crime and expressed satisfaction with cooperation of Embassy and PG of Moldova.
