Moldovan SP sends congratulatory message on occasion of national holiday Our Language

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, has sent a congratulatory message on Saturday, 31 August, on occasion of National Holiday Limba Noastra (Our Language), mentioning that this day must unite and make stronger the people of Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

"The name of this holiday has been chosen with great wisdom, so that each inhabitant of our country, regardless of ethnicity, celebrates the power and beauty of their own languages ​​and cultures. I am convinced that the diversity of the people living with us defines us as a nation and country.

We have been living for more than two decades in an atmosphere of mutual reproaches and disputes related to the name of the language. It has already become axiom that society is divided, and the degree of intolerance has reached worrying levels in recent years. This is why, on this day, I want you to celebrate, with respect for each other, the language we speak.

We have achieved the impossible by uniting the political right and left for the sake of our country and our people. I am sure that if politicians have learnt to overcome their pride and ambitions, the inhabitants of the country, who have always shown great wisdom, will be able to put aside the semantic disputes.

I want to urge you, dear Moldovans, Romanians, Ukrainians, Russians, Gagauzians, Bulgarians, Jews, Armenians, Poles and all the other inhabitants of the country to keep the language, speak it correctly and pass on to the next generations a well – cared, worthy language and our shared history.

Together we can transform Our language into a beautiful holiday that will unite and inspire generations," says the message of SP.
