Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ – Several cultural activities, dedicated to the National Holiday Our Romanian language, 30th issue, have been held on Saturday, 31 August, in Chisinau and in other localities of Moldova.
The holiday began with laying flowers at the monument of ruler Stefan cel Mare si Sfant and at the bust of poet Mihai Eminescu from the Classical Alley of Romanian Literature. Then, in the central Public Garden, there was a literary – artistic manifestation: At the beginning, it was the word ... .
The president of the Union of Writers of Moldova (USM), Arcadie Suceveanu, moderator of the event, mentioned that the Romanian Language Day is truly a national holiday. "I remember the speeches of 30 years ago by Grigore Vieru, Nicolae Dabija, Leonida Lari, Ion Vatamanu and other forerunners who magnetised the crowds of the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN). Then it was laid the foundation of the rebirth of this fragment of the people. Of course, we are experiencing contradictory feelings today, as many of our victories have been diverted. The holiday Our Romanian language is a feeling, an emotion, a purifier that we experience at the end of August yearly," specified Arcadie Suceveanu.
At his turn, writer Iulian Filip said that we still have much to do to make our Romanian language feel at home. "Unfortunately, we have two manifestations of the state language: one – at holidays and another – in the kitchen, in the street. This holiday should encourage us to raise awareness, with some accents about where we are, set some milestones for the next step. The Constitutional Court (CC) confirmed that our language is Romanian, according to the Declaration of Independence (DI). We still have to amend Article №13 of the Constitution," said Iulian Filip.
The words of homage brought to the Romanian language were also spoken by writers Ianos Turcanu, Nicolae Spataru, poet Lucian Vasiliu from Iasi, director of Publishing House Junimea, literary critic Ana Bantos, etc. In front of those present performed: Valy Boghean and Adriana Spinei, and actor Nicolae Jelescu held a recital of lyrics.
Also today, in sectors of Chisinau municipality there have been several literary – artistic events dedicated to the Romanian language.
The celebration Our Romanian language will culminate with a performance: It celebrates and resonates music, supported by ethno – folkloric ensemble Plaiesii led by Nicolae Gribincea and municipal orchestra of folk music led by Vasile and Vitalie Advahov, Mihai Ciobanu, Nicolae Palit and Zinaida Julea, which will take place on PMAN.
Romania has marked on the same day the day of the Romanian Language since 2011.
