National army marks 28 years of formation in Moldova

Chisinau, 03 September /MOLDPRES/ – The National Army (AN) has celebrated, on Tuesday, 03 September, 28 years since its formation. The anniversary was marked in all the military garrisons of Moldova.
In Chisinau, the military and civilian staff laid flowers at the monument of ruler Stefan cel Mare si Sfant and at the monument of Mother in grief at the Memorial Complex Eternitate. Also, at the Ministry of Defence (MA) has had a ceremony of decoration with state distinctions and of AN of the best military and civilian employees.
The President of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Igor Dodon, said that "the Army is the indispensable attribute of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova." "Founded together with the state of Moldova, AN symbolises courage and power, patriotism and sacrifice, honour and truth, while also representing the guarantee of national and regional peace and security," said Igor Dodon.
The Secretary General of Parliament, Adrian Albu, has sent a message from SP Zinaida Greceanii, mentioning that 03 September is the day of recognition of the people of Moldova for all the military service men who served and have serve with devotion and self – denial.
Present at the festivity, the adviser of PM Maia Sandu, Victoria Rosa, has specified that "the security and defence field becomes a priority for Government, which is also supported by Euro – Atlantic development partners".
Defence Minister, Pavel Voicu, has appreciated the contribution of all the military service men to the development and modernisation of defence institution. Also, the Minister of Defence has referred to the professionalism of the military and civilian employees, who today are in the service of Moldova – at home and in foreign missions.
“Without them, this comprehensive reform, which involves knowledge, experience, dedication and devotion, could not have been possible. Without their performance, an excellent one, within the peacekeeping missions with an international mandate, the image of Moldova would not have been as good,” said Minister Voicu.
Also, there were held some festive activities, organised within National Army Day, in Balti, Cahul, Edinet and Ungheni, in common with the local public administrations (APL).
The National Army was created by decree of the President of Moldova, on 03 September 1991.
