Facilities offered to duty – free shops canceled by legislature of Moldova

Chisinau, 04 September /MOLDPRES/ – The draft law providing for cancellation of tax and customs facilities for duty – free shops was adopted in final reading, with vote of 54 MPs, on Wednesday, 04 September.
The project targets the shops, bars and restaurants that operate under duty – free regime and are located at entrance to Moldova, at the international border crossing points of state, as well as those located on uncontrolled territory by the constitutional bodies of Moldova.
Also, the project provides for cancellation of VAT exemption and excise duty for petroleum products marketed in customs control area.
The purpose of the project is to ensure a fiscal equity for taxpayers and reduce the budgetary losses from non – collection of taxes and duties on budget by existence of provisions that offer exemption for goods that are marketed in customs control areas upon entering the territory of Moldova.
Recently, the Government has approved an additional amendment to project, according to which "the economic agents holding the licence for activity of duty – free shops located in entrance area on the territory of Moldova and for the activity of the duty – free shop for service of diplomatic corps, which term of validity do not expire until 01 January 2020, will continue to benefit until the expiry of validity of the activity licence, without the right of extension, for goods not subject to excise duties on tax and customs facilities granted for duty – free shops located in departure area of on the territory of Moldova”.
