Moldovan president meets NATO Secretary General

Chisinau, 5 September /MOLDPRES/- On a visit to Brussels, President Igor Dodon had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
During the discussions, Dodon "reiterated that the constitutional status of permanent neutrality and balanced foreign policy remain a key priority for the Moldovan leadership, given that it involves building good neighborly relations with all international partners based on mutual respect".
"The neutral status of the Republic of Moldova means non-participation in military blocs, including NATO. Based on this, we intend to obtain the international recognition of the constitutional status of permanent neutrality of our country ”, the head of state said.
At the same time, in Brussels, Igor Dodon also met with Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission. The president informed the European official about the proposal of Russian Defense Minister Serghei Soigu to start liquidation of ammunition stored in the Transnistrian region.
Dodon was on a two-day visit to Brussels. He also met Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič and President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament David McAllister.
Before leaving for Brussels, Dodon was in Moscow for a day, where he would return this weekend to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
