Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- The money that is given to Moldova by the European Union must be invested in concrete projects and will be provided with the implementation of reforms in the country. The statement was made on 6 September in Chisinau by the leader of the European People's Party (EPP), Joseph Daul, after a meeting with Andrei Năstase, the leader of the Dignity and Truth Party (PDA), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs.
"The EU will support concrete, clearly defined projects. The money that has been blocked will be released, but if there is any blockage in terms of democracy, then we will return to the blockage. This is because we in Europe have to prove to European citizens that the money that is offered abroad serves the development of democracy ”, Daul said.
He said he is closely monitoring the developments in our country and the first results of the reforms initiated by the new government can already be seen, but they must continue so that the justice is independent and corruption is fought. "In Moldova, nothing will be as it was. We will be able to secure an independent justice and then fight against corruption, so that young people can stay in the country and those from abroad to return home. If young people leave, Moldova has no future”, the politician said.
Nastase said he talked to Daul about the political processes in the country and the need to implement reforms. “We assured we understand how important the following political processes are, how important is to achieve a real justice reform. We talked about the support the EPP and the European institutions can give us in terms of bringing Moldova closer to European standards, and this will happen when we have here, at home, a fair justice, a functional economy and a right investment climate. We had the assurance that the most successful mayors of the West will be with us in the process of modernizing our communities, ”said Nastase.
Daul is on a visit to Moldova. He had meetings with Prime Minister Maia Sandu and political leaders. At the same time, yesterday he visited Moldova State University and discussed with young people about importance of their involving in reforms of Moldova.
