Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Vitali Radulov, born in Parcani, has set up a farm for breeding pigs with the European Union’s support in the Speia village, left bank of Dniester. During four years, the farm has increased the production more than ten-fold. The business started with 120 pigs and the farm presently has 1,500 pigs.
According to the farmer, to a great extent, his business is to due to the breed of pigs he has chosen. With the initial grant of 10,000 euros, got from the European Union, Radulov bought from the Netherlands pigs having little fat. The businessman brought other pigs with money earned and developed the process in this way.
Vitali Radulov learned about grants from villagers of Speia, who got financing for a tractor. Radulov looked for more information, worked out a business plan, registered for a contest and got to the end, while his colleagues gave up.
„A certain effort was needed, but it was worth it, surely,” the farmer said. After getting the money, he attended all information sessions and business trainings organized within the project. Radulov continued to collect information, exchanging experience with colleagues from the right bank of Dniester and Ukraine. He hopes to visit the farm of the Netherlands, from which he purchased the first pigs.
The producer from the left bank of Dniester received financing on behalf of EU, through the Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme Moldova (UNDP Moldova). Due to this project, over 70 young people from both banks of Dniester managed to start businesses and create about 350 jobs.
Training seminars in management and promotion were held for grants’ beneficiaries.
