Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code of hydrological drought till 12 September.
Hydrologists record drought in rivers and lakes from Moldova because of lack of precipitation and high air temperatures. “We demand that economic agents and residents rationally use the water resources,” reads a press release by the institution.
Also, the Yellow Code of exceptional fire danger is valid throughout Moldova till 11 September. During 5-11 September, exceptional natural fire danger (class five) and threatening with fire of forest belts and agricultural crops will be maintained in most Moldovan districts over the insufficiency of precipitation.
In this context, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) reiterated the warning about the observance of the anti-fire rules. Firemen demanded that citizens do not set fire to dry vegetation and domestic waste, avoid the lighting of stakes and setting fire to stubble fields and call 112 in case of fires, maybe even insignificant ones.
At the same time, if extraordinary situations are noticed in woods and adjacent areas, specialists of the Moldsilva Forestry Agency ask to call them at the hotline 022 211 311.
The Yellow Code of hydrological drought is issued, if the flow of water has levels of 50 per cent and lower of the multiannual norm.
