America Days launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Hundreds of Chisinau residents, guests of the capital, officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps today assembled in the Stefan cel Mare public garden, in order to start the America Days. The event is organized by the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and is to be held in more cities of Moldova during two weeks.
„Since I have been holding the office in Moldova, I had occasion to travel a lot in the country, to see its values and nice people. Or, now the moment has come to return the pleasure and, through this event, to give possibility to learn more about the American food, sport, music, dances, movies. At the same time, I want to re-assure you of the every support of the American people, who has been by the side of Moldova since the proclamation of the Independence,” U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan said at the launch of the action.
Attending the opening of America Days, Prime Minister Maia Sandu stressed that the events such as the one organized in the next two week-ends by the American Embassy represented “an excellent opportunity to learn about the real content between the USA and Moldova and it is good that more people will be able to learn about the support of the American partners, provided to Moldova on its way to the European integration and democratic values.”
In the first two week-ends of September, the U.S. Embassy will carry out various activities in six cities of Moldova, in order to highlight the productive bilateral relation with Moldova. Thus, on 6 September, the event is held in the Stefan cel Mare public garden, on 7 September – in Tiraspol (Pobeda Park) and on 8 September – in northern Soroca city – Grigore Vieru central park.
Next week, the America Days will be hosted by Comrat - on 13 September – on the square of the Community House; on 14 September – in Taraclia – on Principal Square, and on 15 September - in Balti, in the Central Park.
Several topic-related areas for visitors will be arranged during the events: the informative area about the projects financed by the U.S. Government, area of the American cuisine, an area where a band from the SUA will perform, as well as a sports area, where visitors will be able to play baseball and American football.
