Moldova's National Public Health Agency provides details on situation at Chisinau-based lyceum

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Public Health Agency (ANSP) has informed that one case of group of acute diarrheal disease was registered at a lyceum from Moldova’s capital among pupils and employees of the institution. So far, 128 suspect cases with clinical symptoms of acute diarrheal disease have been discovered, including some of them with catarrhal clinical symptoms. The sick people are aged between 9 and 35 years.
At present, the ill people are isolated and receive drug treatment at the Municipal Clinical Hospital of Contagious Diseases and outpatient treatment under the supervision of the family physician.
Among the clinical symptoms recorded in sick people, there were general weakness, headache, pharyngitis, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, liquid stool, muscular and articular pains.
ANSP specialists carry out an epidemiological investigation of the case, jointly with the first medical aid and the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA). At the moment, decision-makers make active discovery of sick people with clinic symptoms of acute diarrheal disease and medical supervision of those who came in touch with ill people. At the same time, samples were collected from ill people, staff of the cooking room and objects of the environment for laboratory investigations.
The epidemiological research and the anti-epidemic measures in the hotbed continue.
ANSP recommends that residents appeal to family physician or ask for emergency medical assistance if clinical symptoms of acute diarrheal disease appear, such as diarrhea, vomiting, liquid stool, especially in children.
Today morning, prosecutors said they were investigating the case and take in account, at the moment, both the version of a food intoxication and viral disease.
