Secretary General of OSCE to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Secretary General of OSCE, Thomas Greminger, will pay a visit to Moldova on 17 – 19 September, and he will have discussions with senior officials from Moldova and representatives of political leadership of Tiraspol.

In a press release, the OSCE Mission has announced that, during his visit, Greminger will focus on advancing the Transnistrian settlement process in accordance with principles agreed by all 57 states participating in the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan in December 2018.

Also, Greminger will discuss the role that the OSCE can play in ensuring the transparency of process of withdrawal and destruction of Russian ammunition and weapons and in coordinating the financial and technical assistance offered to facilitate their withdrawal and destruction.

Also, the Secretary General of OSCE will discuss the potential areas of involvement of organisation in supporting the reform agenda of Moldova.

Recently, Russia has proposed launching the process of using ammunition located in warehouse near village of Cobasna in the Transnistrian region.
