Moldova's Prosecutor General's Office demands stripping two MPs off immunity

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ – The General Prosecutor's Office has called for the lifting of parliamentary immunity of 02 MPs. These are Marina Tauber and Reghina Apostolova from political party Shor.
Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, has announced that there have been addressed 02 requests for lifting of parliamentary immunity to Parliament. The first concerns Marina Tauber, and the second – Reghina Apostolova. Subsequently, Greaceanii has announced a break in sitting of Parliament, following which MPs return to meeting room at 16:30 to examine the issue.
During this time, the matter will be examined by the Committee of legal issues, appointments and immunities, which convened the meeting. The head of commission, Sergiu Litvinenco, has said that 02 MPs concerned have been expected to attend the hearing to get to know their views on request.
Previously, MP Ilan Shor had also been lifted of parliamentary immunity, following a request made by acting General Prosecutor.
