Two MPs detained in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ – Marina Tauber and Reghina Apostolova have been detained, on Monday, 16 September, shortly after the Parliament agreed to lift their parliamentary immunity.
The General Prosecutor's Office (PG) has stated in a press release that "detention is due to the attempt of MPs aimed at evading criminal prosecution actions".
"The departure of MPs in an unknown direction has made it necessary for them to be detained, so as to apply the criminal prosecution measures", it is further specified within statement of PG.
The quoted source has stated that the purpose of the request of today in Parliament, was not to seek the express detention of concerned persons, although the law allows it, but to lift the immunity as to carry out criminal prosecution actions.
In press, there have appeared video images according to which Marina Tauber and Reghina Apostolova were arrested in Orhei city.
The Parliament has accepted today the lifting of immunity of MPs from the Shor party, Marina Tauber and Reghina Apostolova. The decisions have been taken with the vote of 56 MPs. The action has taken place after a month ago, it was also left without parliamentary immunity MP Ilan Shor.
