Moldovan-German cooperation on many issues discussed in Berlin

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/- The support provided by Germany for the reforms initiated by the Moldovan government, issues on the recognition of driving licenses and reducing roaming tariffs, strengthening political dialogue at high level, boosting commercial-economic circuit and the Transnistrian conflict settlement were among the topics approached in Berlin at a meeting between Foreign and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.

The sides expressed the intention to further strengthen the political dialogue at high level, to boost trade and economic circuit and to enhance sectoral cooperation. The support provided by Germany in the European path of the Republic of Moldova was also mentioned, in accordance with the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.

At the same time, Germany's contribution to the settlement process of the Transnistrian conflict was discussed. The officials reached a consensus on the organization soon of the next round of negotiations in the 5 + 2 format, as well as of a new informal meeting of the Bavarian Conference to advance the negotiations on the issue.

In another context, Popescu approached the recognition of driving licenses, reducing roaming tariffs and issues related to facilitating certain aspects for Moldovans living abroad.

The Moldovan foreign minister expressed gratitude for the development assistance provided to our country by Germany.

His visit to Berlin represents a continuation of talks held in July during the visit by Prime Minister Maia Sandu. The German side reiterated support to our country in promoting reforms initiated by the Moldovan government, especially in strengthening the rule of law, justice reform and fight against corruption.
