Moldovan parliament speaker meets Director-General for Neigbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii and Director-General for Neigbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission Christian Danielsson today discussed the present stage of the Moldova-European Union cooperation, as well as the goals of the joint agenda, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Zinaida Greceanii thanked for the support the European Union was providing to Moldova.
Totodată, the speaker declared for the boosting of the cooperation within sustainable investment projects, which would subsequently generate a stable economic growth in Moldova.
”We want the financial resources from the foreign assistance pursue, first and foremost, the interests of the citizens and Moldova becomes a true success story,” the parliament speaker stressed.
Also, Zinaida Greceanii also said that the fulfillment of the commitments stipulated in the Association Agreement represented a political assuming and a priority of the governance. She noted that the parliament’s majority was interested in fostering the dialogue between Moldova and the European Union in its implementation.
In the context, Christian Danielsson welcomed the signing of the political agreement on the transitory goals of the Government, Presidency and Parliament, stressing the parliament’s important role in maintaining the political consensus.
The European official said that, at present, proper conditions had been created for the advancement of reforms in justice, which are of major importance for strengthening the trust in Moldova.
”We are impressed by the steps undertaken by the parliament for the carrying out of the reforms of de-oligarchization and fighting corruption, optimizing the public administration, which will enhance the foreign partners’ confidence in Moldova and the country’s citizens,” the European official noted.
The sides also discussed the forthcoming general local elections, highlighting that the polls would become a test for the ruling coalition and stressing the importance of the ballot for the stable development of the settlements and improvement of people’s well-being.
