Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - The inquiry commission for analyzing the way of organizing the privatization and granting to concession public property (2013-2019) today held a meeting to hear the preliminary reports on the lawfulness of the granting to concession of the Chisinau International Airport (AIC) and legality of the privatization of the Air Moldova air company.
The reports contain preliminary information on eventual irregularities found in the process of granting to concession of the Airport and turning private of Air Moldova. The irregularities were revealed after more documents presented to the inquiry commission had been considered and more people had been heard.
The head of the inquiry commission, Igor Munteanu, said that “there are clear-cut indexes about vitiations of contracts and of procedures followed in the case of granting to concession of the Chisinau International Airport and in the case of Air Moldova’s privatization.”
The rapporteurs said that, after the privatization, the debts of Air Moldova had not been paid and the goal of the privatization was not achieved. As for AIC, the rapporteurs said that several reasons for the cancellation of the concession contract had been identified.
The two preliminary reports will subsequently allow unveiling the final report of the inquiry commission on these two cases with high impact to the parliament’s plenum.
The Air Moldova Company was turned private in last autumn and the Chisinau International Airport was granted to concession for a 49-year period in 2013.
