Rate of participation in vote exceeds 30 per cent in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ – By 15:40, about 30 per cent of the citizens expected to vote at the ballot box, on Sunday, 20 October, has expressed their vote, while validation threshold being exceeded. The voting process is carried out according to the established procedures, without major incidents, and the attendance is lower than at the ballot of 2015.
According to online application of the Central Election Commission (CEC), up to this hour, there were present about 850,211 voters at the polling stations. Most voters – over 53 per cent – women. And at this time, the most active citizens remain the elderly. The most passive voters are young people up to 25 years old.
There were opened 1,969 polling stations at 07:00 hours and they close at 21:00 hours. Firstly, the general local elections (ALG) are taking place with new parliamentary elections (APN) in constituencies №№17, 33, 48 and 50.
Following ALG, it will be elected 898 mayors and 11,580 councilors. The recent ALG were held on 14 June 2015.
