Over 25 per cent of Chisinau municipality citizens express vote

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ – The local elections (AL) in Chisinau municipality can be considered valid. Over 25 per cent of the voters registered in the electoral lists appeared at the ballot boxes until 16:30. Thus, the threshold for validating the ballot has been exceeded.
According to the online application of the Central Election Commission (CEC), up to this hour, at the voting stations in the capital, there have expressed their right of voting 165,800 voters. While in Moldova, most voters – over 55 per cent – represent women. The most active citizens remain the elderly. The most passive voters are young people up to 25 years old.
According to quoted source, in the whole Moldova, at the ballot box until 16:30, there came 32 per cent of the 2,818,228 citizens with voting rights assigned to administrative – territorial units of level – 2. The turnout is lower than in previous polls.
There were opened 1,969 polling stations at 07:00 and they close at 21:00.
Following the general local elections (ALG), it will be elected 898 mayors and 11,580 councilors. The recent ALG were held on 14 June 2015.
