Voter turnout exceeds 39 per cent in Moldova at 19:00

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - Over 39 per cent of the citizens exercised their right to vote till 19:00 and thus, the electoral validation threshold was exceeded. The voting process takes place according to the procedures established, without major incidents, and the voter turnout is lower than at the local polls from 2015.
According to the online application of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), about 1,100,000 electors voted till 19:00. Most voters, over 54 per cent – were women. Elderly people remain the most active voters at this time too. The most passive voters are persons younger than 25 years.
Till 19:00, the lowest rate of participation is recorded in towns and cities and the highest one – in rural settlements.
As for the parliamentary polls, held in four uninominal districts today, till 18:00, over 23,000 electors voted in the district No 17, about 20,000 - in the uninominal district No 33. At the same time, over 1,100 persons exercised their right to vote in the electoral district No 48. Also, there are eight polling stations, organized for the voters from this uninominal district, were no person has come to vote. A voter turnout of 6,900 electors is registered in the district No 50. No voter turnout higher than 300 electors was recorded in any polling station out of 85 opened ones. The most demanded polling stations of the uninominal district No 50 are: Nice, Paris (France) Parma, Naples, Brescia, Bologna (Italy) and Brussels (Belgium).
Those 1,969 polling stations were opened at 7:00 and will close at 21:00. For the first time ever, the local elections are held concomitantly with new parliamentary polls in the uninominal electoral districts No 17, 33, 48 and 50.
As many as 898 mayors and 11,580 councilors are to be elected at the ballot. The last general local polls took place on 14 June 2015.
