20 candidates registered for contest on prosecutor general position

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- 20 people submitted applications for the contest initiated by the Ministry of Justice on position of prosecutor general. The list was made public today.

Anatolie Istrate, Ilie Rotaru, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Maxim Gropa, Veaceslav Soltan, Eduard Bulat, Ruslan Cașu, Ruslan Popov, Alexandru Rața, Vsevolod Ivanov, Serghei Perju, Tudor Andronic, Ion Vicol, Artur Lupasco, Vladimir Adam, Gheorghe Malic, Vladislav Gribincea, Stefan Gligor, Oleg Crismaru and Octavian Bodareu were recorded in the competition.

The competition for the position of prosecutor general was announced by the Ministry of Justice on 30 September with the deadline for submission of files on 20 October at 23.59.

According to the new amendments to the legislation, a special commission will select at least two candidates, and will submit to the Superior Council of Prosecutors. CSP will select one candidate and will submit to the president for appointment.

Justice Minister Olesea Stamati has previously announced that the commission will include seven people such as Raisa Botezatu - former judge, James Hamilton - international expert in the prosecution, former Prosecutor General of Ireland, Sergiu Baieșu – university professor, Moldova State Univesity, Igor Boțan - executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy, representative of civil society, Dumitru Postovan - national expert appointed by the speaker, Tatiana Buianina - psychologist, member without voting rights. Minister of Justice will be part of the commission.
