Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) for the office of Moldovan capital’s mayor, Ion Ceban, today gave a news conference. At the event, he suggested that the councilors of the ACUM bloc, who enter the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), create a coalition.

Ceban thanked the Chisinau residents for support, noting that, if he becomes mayor, he would cede two seats of deputy mayors to the ACUM bloc and two of the five praetors might be appointed by the ACUM bloc. Ceban also said that he was ready to give the office of CMC head to the ACUM bloc.

The PSRM candidate informed that, once elected as mayor, he would propose changing the chart of the institution and would set up an urban planning department, which might be led by the former candidate for Chisinau mayor, Victor Chironda, as well as a department due to deal with the bilateral relations and investment projects, which might be led by another former candidate for the Chisinau mayor position, Octavian Ticu. Ion Ceban proposed also an agenda of councilors, stressing that he would put emphasis on the development of suburbs, modernization of kindergartens and schools, as well as fighting corruption.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, the runoff of the local elections will be held in the Moldovan capital. The PSRM candidate, for whom, according preliminary data, 40.16 per cent of the Chisinau residents voted on 20 October, and the candidate of the ACUM bloc, Andrei Nastase, who got 31.09 per cent of the votes, will compete in the runoff.
