Superior Council of Magistracy meeting postponed

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- Members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), dismissed from the positions by the General Assembly of Judges, were to convene in a meeting today. However, this time the meeting did not take place either.
After a few minutes of discussion, the CSM members announced that the meeting was postponed due to lack of quorum. Today, the CSM members, dismissed from their positions, were to examine Ion Druță's request for resignation as President of the Supreme Court of Justice and to approve the draft decision on the approval of the draft law amending the Law on the Superior Council of Magistracy.
On 21 October, a group of judges from the Chisinau Court filed a complaint with the National Anticorruption Center and requested that the interim president of the CSM, Dorel Musteaţă, dismissed from office, should be investigated for exceeding his duties.
On 27 September, over 200 judges convened in the General Assembly of Judges. Then, the magistrates decided to dismiss six members of the CSM. 164 out of the 202 magistrates present at the meeting voted for the dismissal of the interim president of the CSM, Dorel Musteață. Victor Micu was dismissed by 118 votes, Anatolie Galben with 162 votes, Luiza Gafton, Petru Moraru and Nina Cernat were dismissed by 167 votes, and alternate member Anatolie Pahapol was dismissed by 155 votes.
