Moldovan parliament speaker to participate in European summit of parliament speakers in Strasbourg

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii will pay a working visit to Strasbourg, where she will participate in the European Conference of Parliament Speakers. The event will take place at the Palace of Europe on 24-25 October and will bring together speakers from 47 member states of the Council of Europe and from partner countries or which have status of observer, as well as heads of other international organizations, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
The summit will discuss three topical subjects.
The first subject is titled, Our Common European Home: the next 70 years, and is dedicated to those seven decades of the Council of Europe. It will also refer to the three decades since the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as to up-to-date and promising processes of the common European area.
Within this panel, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii will give a speech before the participants in the summit.
Another subject is the Implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and Its Sustainable Development Goals: Contribution of Parliaments.
The third subject is titled, Women in politics and in the public discourse - What role can national Parliaments play in combating the increasing level of harassment and hate speech towards female politicians and parliamentarians?
On the sidelines of the summit, Speaker Zinaida Greceanii will have more bilateral meetings, including with Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Liliane Maury Pasquier, President of the European Court of Human Rights Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.
The European summit of parliament speakers is a biannual conference.
