Runoff to be held on 3 November

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission decided today that the runoff of local elections will take place on 3 November. Then voters in 383 localities are expected to elect mayors.
According to the CEC, PSRM candidate Ion Ceban and candidate of ACUM bloc Andrei Năstase will compete on November 3 for the mayor position. The two have gained most votes at the 20 October elections.
The first two candidates who have got the highest number of votes in the 20 October elections will be registered in the ballot papers. The registration of the two candidates in the ballot will be done in descending order of the number of votes accumulated in the first round. If one of the two candidates withdraws from the electoral race no later than 7 days before election day, the election will be held between the remaining candidate and the next candidate who picked up the highest number of votes in the first round.
The ballot papers for the election of mayors will be printed according to the models approved by the commission for the general local elections of October 20. Voting in the runoff will be based on the same electoral lists used in the first round.
The CEC leadership said that by 1 November, the electoral competitors will submit reports on the incomes and expenses of the electoral campaign for runoff.
515 mayors were elected at the 20 October elections.
