Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - The draft budget law for 2020 provides for salary increases between 6 and 10 per cent for most employees of the state institutions. Besides, for some categories of citizens, the remuneration might grow by up to 1,500-2,000 lei per month. The Finance Ministry made statements to this effect today.
Thus, in the case of mayors from the settlements with up to 20,000 residents, who currently can have salaries lower than some of their subordinates, the salary increases will reach about 1,500 lei per month. The draft sees increases for the education system employees as well. For instance, the monthly salaries of the deputy headmasters of lyceums and vocational schools will be by 2,000 lei higher. In the case of teachers and educators, they will increase by 680 lei and, respectively, 900 lei, per month.
The proposals were discussed at public consultations on the salary policy for 2020 and for medium term (2021-2022). The event brought together representatives of trade unions and central public authorities.
Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilita informed that the draft provided for the correcting of inequalities in the level of salary payment for some categories of employees, including those from the local public authorities, education sector, penitentiary institutions and defence field.
„The demographic problem hits each sector of the economy; all institutions face problems of luring employees. One of the solutions to this problem is to increase the salaries. At the same time, we consider that these increases of the labour remuneration must be correlated with the growth in the labour productivity; this means systems of management, internal control and introducing technologies and other elements which enhance the labour productivity and ensure the economic growth,” Natalia Gavrilita added.
The budget law for 2020 will enter into force, after it is approved by the government and subsequently by the parliament.
