EU Ambassadors in charge of Eastern Partnership express support parliamentary majority of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union ambassadors in charge of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) have expressed support for the parliamentary majority of Moldova and encouraging in its efforts of implementing reforms. Ambassadors have made statements to this effect at a today’s meeting with Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The EU ambassadors showed impressed by the fact that the coalition had managed to quickly overcome the political crisis from the last summer, by using democratic ways and expressing the people’s will.
The ambassadors welcomed the fact that the political forces from the parliamentary majority shared the responsibilities within the coalition, as it is a good platform for continuing the EU’s cooperation with Moldova’s authorities.
The European officials showed optimistic about the efforts taken to strengthen the governance, reform the justice and combat corruption.
The ambassadors confirmed the fact that for EU, just as for Moldova’s authorities, people represent the priority and that the citizens were expecting changes for the better.
Zinaida Greceanii highly appreciated the support provided by the European Union to Moldova, including through the Eastern Partnership, especially in the reforms’ implementation process. The speaker also thanked for the unlocking of financing on behalf of the European partners.
At the same time, the parliament speaker reiterated Moldova’s commitment to carry out the provisions of the agreements in the bilateral framework of cooperation with EU, which represents one of the priorities of the coalition.
In the end, Zinaida Greceanii reconfirmed that Moldova’s authorities would further promote a balanced foreign policy, which is to fulfill, first of all, the citizens’ interests and is to be able to ensure the development of good relations with all foreign partners of Moldova.
