Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ – The second volume Basarabia necunoscuta. Editie în trei volume (Unknown Bessarabia. Edition in three volumes) by Iurie Colesnic was launched at a bookshop in Chisinau, on Tuesday, 22 October.
Interviewed by agency, Iurie Colesnic specified that the volume appeared in a print run of 1,000 copies within the National Publishing Programme (PNE) of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC). "Unknown Bessarabia" is to me like a movie that started but has no end. I do not know how many volumes I shall be able to do. I am currently working on the XIIth volume. It is a painstaking work, but very interesting. You look in detail, go from one personality to another, go from one archive to another and this way the portrait occurs, as if it were an image from the film. The three volumes are a synthesis of the 11 that have appeared, but volume II has a secret of it – here are presented the personalities from the south of Bessarabia: Marshal Averescu, Dragomir State, Moise Pacu etc.", said Iurie Colesnic.
The first volume of series Unknown Bessarabia appeared in 1993, and volume XI (last) was published in 2018.
