Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure has repeatedly asked the Russian Federation to issue an additional quota of 7,000 permits for Moldovan transport operators for 2019. The request was made after for this year, the Russian side offered a smaller number of transport permits, which are insufficient for Moldovan operators.

A meeting with the Russian side is planned for next period to discuss the quota of authorizations.

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure has announced that over the past years, Russia has reduced the number of permits. Thus, if in 2018 the quota was 18 thousand authorizations, for 2019 the representatives of the Russian side have set a quota of 15 thousand authorizations. As these quotas are insufficient for the road transport operators in the Republic of Moldova, the Chisinau authorities have submitted multiple requests to increase the quota of authorizations. However, most of them were rejected, the Ministry of Economy says.

In August, the Russian side accepted the organization of the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Joint Commission in the international road transport. Following a request by the Moldovan side to increase the number of authorizations, the Russians said that 80.8% of bilateral transportations are carried out by Moldovan operators, the share of Russian operators is only 9.3%. However, the Russian side agreed to grant an additional quota of 1250 authorizations in the third quarter of this year.

In September, 279 transport operators received permits, being issued 1214 authorizations. On 1-17 October, 380 authorizations were issued to 182 operators.
