President of Supreme Court of Justice dismissed

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/- The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) approved on 24 October the resignation of President of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) Ion Druță and accepted he shall be investigated.
Today, the CSM magistrates accepted the request of interim General Prosecutor Dumitru Robu on the initiation of the criminal prosecution, detention, search, arrest and criminal charge of Druță in a new case, in which he is suspected of "interference in the process of justice”. Ion Druta is also investigated in a case on illegal enrichment.
CSM members convened today in a meeting after on 27 September over 200 judges met at general assembly of judges and decided to revoke the CSM panel. Then, 164 out of the 202 magistrates present at the meeting voted to revoke acting president of CSM Dorel Musteață. Victor Micu was dismissed by 118 votes, Anatolie Galben - 162 votes, Luiza Gafton, Petru Moraru and Nina Cernat were dismissed by 167 votes, and alternate member Anatolie Pahapol was dismissed by 155 votes.
