Moldovan parliament speaker meets president of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a bilateral meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier. The Moldovan speaker is on a visit to Strasbourg, to participate in the European Conference of Parliament Speakers, Our Common European Home: the next 70 years.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations general department, Zinaida Greceanii appreciated Moldova’s partnership with the Council of Europe and PACE, as well as the interest with which the developments in Moldova are followed constantly.
”We deem the expertise provided by the Council of Europe’s structures useful and indispensable in the efforts of pressing ahead with the domestic reforms,” the speaker said.
Greceanii noted that the state’s authorities, including the parliamentary majority, made efforts in continuation to end the procedure of Moldova’s monitoring by PACE and switch to another level of interaction.
Zinaida Greceanii also praised the efforts taken by PACE to assess the situation in Moldova following the last June crisis and elaborate the report, Work of the democratic institutions in Moldova.
The European Conference of Parliament Speakers, Our Common European Home: the next 70 years, is held at the Palace of Europe and brought together speakers from 47 Council of Europe member states and from partner countries or which have status of observer, as well as presidents of other international organizations.
Moldova has been Council of Europe member since 13 July 1995.
