Moldovan speaker meets ECHR official

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova is focusing its efforts on improving the system of national remedies and the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi said at a meeting with Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The discussion was held on the sidelines of the European Conference of Speakers, Our common European house: the next 70 years, held in Strasbourg on 24-25 October.
The speaker noted opening of Moldova for the full execution of ECHR decisions and applying the subsidiarity principle. "Moldova has always supported and will continue to support the current jurisprudence of the court," Greceanii said.
Also, they addressed issues aimed at increasing the independence and efficiency of the judiciary, combating corruption and money laundering, combating ill-treatment and impunity, confidence-building measures between the two banks of the Dniester, as well as improving detention conditions.
