Moldovan parliament speaker meets Venice Commission's president

Chisinau, 24 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today met President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) Gianni Buquicchio. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the European Conference of Parliament Speakers, Our Common European Home: the next 70 years, held in Strasbourg on these days.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations general department, the speaker highly appreciated Moldova’s continuous partnership with the Venice Commission. “The expertise provided by you and the constructive opinions are very important in the reforms’ implementation, including in adjusting the efforts of their advancement,” the parliament speaker said.
Greceanii also highlighted the important role of experts of the European Commission for Democracy through Law in election observation missions.
Zinaida Greceanii stressed that the parliamentary majority was relying on the continuous support of the Venice Commission, in order to ensure the needed transformations for the benefit of the country’s citizens.
At the same time, the Moldovan official reiterated the commitment of the country’s authorities as to the implementation of the provisions of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement.
”This commitment is a responsibility and a common interest of the coalition, as it pursues the goal of the country’s development and improving the citizens’ living standards,” Zinaida Greceanii added.
