Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/- On 27 October, the last Sunday of October, the Republic of Moldova will switch to winter time, as in previous years, by transferring the clock backwards by one hour. Thus, 3:00 in the morning will become 2:00, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Switching to winter time is carried out in line with the UN European Economic Commission’s proposal, along with the member states of the European Community.
However, in March 2019, the European Commission voted to drop the time change starting from 2021 on the grounds that the transition to winter time can affect the human body. Thus, each EU Member State will be able to choose whether to stay at constant summer or winter time (standard time). The EU countries must inform the Commission of their choice by April 2020.
