Moldova to further rely on Council of Europe's support to reform key sectors

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today met Council of Europe’s Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic Buric, at the European Conference of Parliament Speakers, held in Strasbourg on these days, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Zinaida Greceanii thanked the Council of Europe for the full support provided to Moldova on all the period since the country had become member of this organization.
The speaker highlighted the full willingness of the authorities, including the parliamentary majority, to continue developing the multidimensional dialogue with CoE.
”We are fully committed to implement the provisions of the Action Plan with the Council of Europe for 2017-2020, which are very important for the country’s development and which are meant to back the carrying out of the Association Agreement with the European Union,” the parliament speaker stressed.
Zinaida Greceanii noted that Moldova further needed the support and orientation of CoE, especially in its actions of reforming justice, fighting corruption and money laundering, ensuring a good governance and freedom of mass media, etc. In the context, the parliament speaker appreciated the recent expertise of the Council of Europe on the draft strategy of justice reform for 2019-2022.
Moldova became member of the Council of Europe on 13 July 1995.
